Biography

Paul Terkura Torkula's research centers on science education, with particular attention to how instructional strategies and emerging technology shape student outcomes. His work spans early childhood and basic science instruction, chemistry education, and integrated science teaching at the secondary level, often testing specific pedagogical approaches — concept mapping, Think-Pair-Share, Predict-Discuss-Explain-Observe-Discuss-Explain, and outdoor or play-based methods — against measures of student achievement, interest, and engagement.

A second thread running through his recent publications is artificial intelligence in the classroom: AI-supported and AI-assisted instruction, AI-mediated science discourse, and the use of AI-enhanced strategies to support both cognitive development and administrative decision-making in schools. He has also studied science education access and support for vulnerable populations, including internally displaced students and trauma-informed instructional models in conflict-affected parts of Benue State.
